八德中正堂華麗變身 獲建築獎

八德區中正堂50、60年代曾是電影院而風光一時，80年代因軍事基地撤出都市，淪為遊民的蚊子館。2007年文化局依《文化資產保存法》登錄為歷史建築，並推動修復再生計畫，歷時6年改造修復成為市圖大湳分館，由於建築主體保留原貌，也凝聚社區居民共識，獲榮獲遠東建築獎《舊屋改造特別獎》殊榮。
文化局說，一元聯合創研建築師何黛雯、林雅萍是中正堂改造修復計畫的幕後功臣，為迎合時代潮流，又不能背離歷史建物本身的價值，修復階段，建築師多次訪談當地人，不時帶居民重回現場，口述對空間的記憶，為了引導改造團隊進入時光隧道的洪流，尋找過往，建築師還四處蒐集老照片補強，獲獎實至名歸。
1964年陸軍總部以「軍中同袍儲蓄會」建造中正堂，做為軍中官兵休閒娛樂場所，開放當地居民及陸光四村家眷購票看電影，成為當地民眾看電影或集會的共同生活記憶空間，隨著社會變遷，中正堂的功能也隨之式微而荒廢。
2007年為活化歷史建物，文化局展開修復再生計畫，除保留原始的芬克式桁架、傳統三角屋面、原本電影院的售票亭及三連拱的入口雨遮也都與當年如出一轍。內部原先的磨石子舞台，化身弧型書籍閱讀上網區，變成閱讀者與書籍對話的新關係。
另外，堂內原有階梯也被保留，結合玻璃構成的放映廳，以現代設施體驗過去齊坐中正堂觀賞電影光景，融合現在與過去。
